I admit, I'm a picky reader but not in the normal sense- where a person is ultra picky on deciding what they read. I'm picky in the sense that I will read anything but I don't give out 4's and 5's willy-nilly. A majority of what I read I consider 3/5, it was good but not great. Maybe that's because I really am picky but don't want to admit it - I will forever deny being picky, deal with it. BUT because I don't rate everything I read 4's or 5's, that means the books I do give 4's and 5's to have blown me away. In the past 2-3 years I've read over 100 books (give or take a book) and out of those 100, only a handful have received 4/5 or 5/5 and of those, only three series have stuck with me (Harry Potter not included, since I reread it every year and it's my all time favorite anyway). Those three series/titles are:
A Darker Shade of Magic series by V.E. Schwab
A Darker Shade of Magic (#1)
A Gathering of Shadows (#2)
A Conjuring of Light (#3)
The Checquy Files by Daniel O'Malley
The Rook (#1)
Stiletto (#2)
The City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty (#2 comes out this fall)
